Dr. Mehar Ghei

Owner of The Sanctuary
Board Certified Neuromusculoskeletal Osteopathic Physician

Dr. Mehar Ghei was raised in the suburbs of North Jersey where she attended New Jersey Institute of Technology for a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering with an emphasis in Tissue and Biomaterial Engineering. She was highly involved in research geared towards gene therapy and creating scaffolds for Tissue Engineering and successfully constructed a functional Centrifugal Force Spinner during Capstone Design for the purpose of cell and tissue culturing. Dr. Ghei graduated from the College of Engineering and the Albert Dorman Honor’s College in 2014 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Science for Biomedical Engineering with a Biomaterials Track.

Dr. Ghei then matriculated into Rowan School of Osteopathic Medicine in Stratford, NJ where she attained her medical school training. Whilst in medical school, Dr. Ghei was actively engaged in research in interventional, regenerative, and surgical orthopedics in addition to winning poster presentations in her research on preventative medicine. Furthermore, Dr. Ghei was heavily involved on campus as a Tutor and Volunteer at the free Neuromusculoskeletal Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine Clinic as a Senior Supervising Student Doctor.

Dr. Ghei began her residency training at the Neuromusculoskeletal Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine Residency Program at St. Barnabas Hospital in Bronx, NY in August 2019 where she served the entirety of the COVID pandemic at the hardest hit trauma hospital in New York City as a Resident Physician. Dr. Ghei’s eclectic residency experience includes meticulous osteopathic training under the directorship of Dr. Hugh Ettlinger in the acute hospitalized and trauma setting and the labor and delivery with continuity in outpatient follow-up. Dr. Ghei has extensive experience working with Newborns from hours after delivery to continued development with considerations applied towards addressing birthing strains for both mother and infant from the laboring process. While at St. Barnabas Dr. Ghei manuscripted several case studies on Ankyloglossia, Plagiocephaly, and Lateral Epicondylitis. Dr. Ghei was entrusted with the honor of being Chief Resident at St. Barnabas Hospital and managed administrative tasks pertaining to the residency program’s functionality; including enhancing workflow efficiency and advocating for patient and resident wellness.

Dr. Ghei then matriculated into the Neuromusculoskeletal Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine and Non-Surgical Orthopedics Residency Program at Larkin Community Hospital in Hialeah, Florida where she completed her last year of residency under the directorship of Dr. Joel Stein and Dr. Steven Licata. Dr. Ghei’s comprehensive residency experience at Larkin included training under Primary Care Physicians, Sports Medicine Physicians, Interventional Pain Management Physicians, and Addiction Medicine Physicians to augment her diagnostic knowledge and interventional procedural skill-set.

Dr. Ghei will be attaining certifications in Musculoskeletal Ultrasound and Fluoroscopic Guided injections in the coming months and will be opening her services for Minimally Invasive Procedures, Regenerative Injections, Interventional Pain Management Procedures, and Aesthetic Procedures.
